Mel's Grilled Flank Steak

Ingredients:
1 (1 1/2 lb) flank steaks
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup red wine
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced gingerroot or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Directions:
1. Trim excess fat from steak; score steak on both sides in 1 1/2 inch squares. Place steak in large plastic bag, and then in a shallow dish.
2. Combine oil and remaining ingredients, stirring well. Pour over steak. Cover and seal. Marinate in refrigerator at least 8 hours.
3. Drain steak, reserving marindade. Grill, covered, over medium coals (300-400 degrees) for 6-8 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness, basting twice with marinade. Discard remaining marinade.
4. To serve, slice steak across the grain into thin slices.
