Meatball Vegetable Soup

This is an old family recipe from my husband's Swedish grandmother. I don't know if it's Swedish, but it's good.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumb
1/4 cup milk
1 egg, unbeaten
1/2 lb ground chuck
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup celery leaves, snipped
1 large onion, minced
2 medium carrots, sliced
1 cup raw potatoes, cubed
2 cups water (or chicken broth)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 cups canned tomatoes, diced
Directions:
1. For soup, add all ingredients to Dutch oven.
2. Boil for 30 minutes.
3. Make meatballs: Mix all ingredients and shape into 12 balls.
4. Refrigerate 30 minutes and then drop into boiling soup and simmer 10 minutes.
