I found this while desperately searching for something that all my kids would eat without complaint. I found this in a 1982 fundraiser cookbook and decided to give it a try. This is not gourmet cooking by any means but it was a yummy change with a presentation that made the kids more willing to try it.
Ingredients:
1/3 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons green peppers
1 lb ground beef
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons flour
3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
2 cups flour (or more)
1/2 cup shortening
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
2 cups tomato juice
8 ounces tomato sauce
1 tablespoon minced onion
2 tablespoons green peppers
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon thyme
