This recipe is courtesy of The Garlic Lovers Cookbook, Gilroy, California. My girlfriend and I used to go to the garlic festival every year, and as we entered the town of Gilroy, the scent or smell or odor (depending on your point of view) of garlic just wafted in the air! Read more ! Ha! The only thing we didn't try at the festival was the free garlic ice cream...I just couldn't. I have to make tons of this bread when I have the family over for an Italian dinner! It goes like crazy!
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise
5 cloves fresh garlic minced or pressed
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1 large loaf french bread, cut lengthwise
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in bowl and spread on bread.
2. Wrap in foil and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
3. Unwrap and brown slightly under the broiler.
4. Michele also sprinkles paprika on the bread before putting under broiler.
5. Italian bread can be substituted for French bread.
