OMG...these are to die for! We are big Survivor fans, and when I saw this recipe online in an interview with host Jeff Probst, I knew I had to try them! He said: This recipe takes less than 45 minutes start to finish! Read more ! It's very easy and can be served as a large flat cake or cut up into brownies. MOIST AND DELICIOUS!
Ingredients:
brownies
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
l stick margarine
l/2 cup vegetable shortening
4 tablespoons cocoa
l cup water
l/2 cup milk (or buttermilk)
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
icing
l stick margarine
6 tablespoons milk (can use sweet milk or regular)
4 tablespoons cocoa
l box powdered sugar
l teaspoon vanilla
l cup pecans (optional)
Directions:
1. Brownies:
2. Sift sugar and flour together in large bowl.
3. Mix margarine, shortening, cocoa, and water in another bowl and cook together to a rapid boil.
4. Pour the cooked mixture over flour and sugar.
5. Beat well.
6. Add milk, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, and cinnamon.
7. Mix well and pour into greased and floured 11 x 16 cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until firm.
8. **REMEMBER: toothpick test does NOT work on fudgy brownies!**
9. NOTE: The batter will be very thin, but do NOT add more flour.
10. Icing:
11. Begin making the icing when the brownies come out of the oven. Combine margarine, milk and cocoa.
12. Bring to a rolling boil.
13. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans. Beat well and spread over warm brownies.
