From an International fecipe site, this got rave reviews. it's easy, tasy and kids as well as adults love this sweet treat! Chocolate bars sold as the Mars bar vary in different regions of the world.[1] The American version (discontinued in 2002)[2] is no longer sold, and has been replaced with the slightly different Snickers Almond. Ingredients:
5-6 regular sized mars bars ( or similar substitute )
1 tbsp margarine or butter
1 cup rice bubbles or coco pops cereal(for a real chocolate flavour)
1 tbsp honey
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1/2 slab cooking chocolate ( probably 1/2 pkg of baking chocolate )
Directions:
1. Prep does not include chill time
2. Soften the Mars Bars in a bowl in the microwave until just soft and just easy to stir; do not over melt!
3. Mix the margarine or butter into the soft and still hot Mars Bars mixture and combine well.
4. Add the honey and combine well.
5. Add in the Rice Bubbles or Coco Pops, folding them in carefully so you don't crush them in the mixture.
6. Stir in the almonds.
7. Pour the mixture into a square cakin tin, ensuring that the thickness of the bars will be approx. 1 inch.
8. Melt the cooking chocolate over slow heat or microwave and coat the Mars Bar mixture in the tin with a layer of it... the amount would depend on how much chocolate you like... I usually just pile a whole chunk on...
9. Even out the edges and sprinkle more chopped almonds on to the cooking chocolate, pressing some into it.
10. Chill till firm and cut into bars.
