This salad is both beautiful and delicious! Popular to serve in the summertime, I made this yesterday (winter blahs) and was a tasty dinner. You can add or delete as many layers as you like! Served with a fresh baquette-family loved it! Read more !
Ingredients:
1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
4 roma tomatoes, chopped and seeded
1 small yellow pepper, chopped and seeded
1/2 cup chopped green onion
3 hard boiled eggs, chopped
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 bag frozen peas thawed and drained.
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
dressing: simple ,basic-good stuff
1 1/4 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup sour cream
2 tbs sugar (more if like it really sweet!)
dash or two of white vinegar
p.s you can use miracle whip too, just omit the sour cream and up the amount you use (i don't even think of miracle whip as a food, but many loyal layer salad lovers swear by it, so had to add!)
Directions:
1. Using a Large, clear glass bowl:
2. Let the layers begin!
3. Use three quarters of the lettuce, then layer the tomatoes, peppers, hard boiled egg, mushrooms, green onions and rest of the lettuce then the peas.
4. Prepare the dressing and add to the last layer.
5. Add the cheese, then top with the bacon.
6. Cover and chill for at least 6 hours!
7. You can add or delete any of the ingredients!
8. When serving, scoop from the bottom! Do not toss this.
9. Enjoy.
