A flavorful shrimp dish by dancegypsy67. Sounded good, thought it would do well for pics, so I made it tonight 11-1907. I ate half of platter!
Ingredients:
5 tbsp oil
1 1/2 lbs uncooked medium shrimp, peeled, devein
1/2 cup minced green onion (2 bunches, about 12-14 onions
2 large garlic cloves minced
1/4 cup tequila for cooking
1/8 cup to pour over cooked shrimp
2 tbsp fresh lime juice (1 large lime, thoroughly squeezed)
1/2 tsp margarita or coarse salt
lime wedges (1 lime)
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a heavy large skillet over medium high heat
2. Add garlic, get some brown pieces going, then add green onion, stir well.
3. Add shrimp, cook stirring until pink, remove and pour shrimp and liquid into a bowl.
4. Add tequila, return to heat, bring to boil and scrap all the left over bits together.
5. Cook about a minute, no more. Pour over shrimp and stir well.
6. Pour remaining tequila over shrimp in the bowl and mix well.
7. In you just going to eat it for your self, sprinkle part of the salt over shrimp, stir well, add remaining salt.
8. I just dished up a bowl full, squeezed about 4 lime wedges, spooned on a couple of tablespoons of the white creamy liquid, stirred and ate it.
9. For presentation, using slotted spoon, remove shrimp from bowl, place on platter, sprinkle parsley flakes for color.
10. Pour remaining juice in serving bowl so each person can spoon liquid over the shrimp.
11. Some may want cooked noodles or rice to put shrimp on, then juice.
12. To me it was just plain good in the bowl with all that wonderful juice.
13. Sauted mushrooms would probably go well with the shrimp.
14. Thanks to dancegypsy67 for this basic recipe. Good post 67, thanks JJ.
15. The pics were fun to take, especially the platter pic.
