From a recipe book I got at a yard sale. It was one put together by members of a church and seems to be dated 1976/77. Guess on servings and prep time.
Ingredients:
1/2c butter
2c brown sugar
4 eggs, separated
1c milk
2tsp maple flavoring
3c flour (if cake flour is used omit baking powder)
4tsp baking powder
2tsp vanilla
1c chopped nuts (optional)
***cream cheese icing
1 large cream cheese
1c confectioners sugar (more if necessary)
2-4tbsp milk
1tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cream butter and sugar.
3. Add egg yolks.
4. Sift flour and add gradually.
5. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
6. Add chopped nuts (optional).
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
8. ***Cream Cheese Icing***
9. Beat in mixer until smooth, spreading consistency.
