You will imagine that you are in New England, or Canada, when you taste this lovely pie! This year, for Thanksgiving, serve this in place of a more traditional Pecan Pie. This makes a 9 pie and if you don't have maple sugar, substitute light brown sugar.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups pecans, toasted
1 cup maple sugar
2/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup butter
3 large eggs, beaten
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pie crust
Directions:
1. 1. Bake the pecans 350 degrees, 8-12 minutes, until toasty. Set aside to cool.
2. 2. Heat the sugar, syrup and butter to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and cool.
3. 3. Beat in the eggs, cream and vanilla. Stir in the pecans.
4. 4. Pour into a crimped pie crust.
5. 5. Bake 400 degrees, 10 minutes, 350 degrees 30-35 minutes., until a knife tip inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. 6. Serve with unsweetened maple flavored whipped cream, if desired.
