Maple & Cranberry Oatmeal With Toasted Almonds

I played with the recipe and ended up with a wonderfully tasty combo of creamy oatmeal, tart cranberries, sweet brown sugar, and crunchy almonds crowned with a drizzle of maple syrup. Read more . Toasting the almonds really enhances their flavor; I used slivered but sliced would work well too.
Ingredients:
2 tblsps slivered almonds
1 cup 1% lowfat milk
1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsps dried cranberries
pure maple syrup
Directions:
1. Toast the almonds in a dry skillet until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly.
2. Bring milk to a boil and add the oats, brown sugar, and cranberries. Cook about 5 mins over medium heat, stirring occasionally,
3. Stir in most of the almonds, reserving a few for a garnish. Drizzle maple syrup over the oatmeal and enjoy!
