Manhattin Clam Chowder My Way

this is a family receipe,my husband LOVES it,he says it is the best he ever gets anywhere.
Ingredients:
2 small cans about 7 oz. chopped clams
4 slices bacon
1 can diced tomatoes about 13 oz.
2 carrots diced
1 medium onion chopped
3 stalks celery,diced.
1 teaspoon thyme
salt and pepper to taste
3 medium potatoes diced.
2 cups water
wondra flour to thicken.
Directions:
1. Cook bacon in soup pot till crisp.
2. Remove all fat except about 1 tablespoon.
3. Drain bacon,set aside.
4. Saute onion and celery till softened,in bacon drippings.
5. Add carrots, saute till partly done.
6. Add clams and tomatoes.
7. Add Thyme and stir all together.
8. Add extra water and potatoes.
9. Season with salt and pepper to taste
10. Cover and simmer till potatoes are softened.
11. Crumble bacon and add to soup.
12. Mix in Wondra flour till chowder consistancy,about 1 tablespoon.
13. Serve with rolls or crackers.
