Mandarin Almond Salad

Another Mandarin Almond Salad. Can't go wrong with either one. This is good stuff.
Ingredients:
1 head romaine lettuce, chopped,washed,and dried
2 (11 ounce) cans mandarin oranges, drained
6 long stem green onions, finely chopped
1/2 cup sliced almonds
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
fresh ground black pepper
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the Romaine, drained oranges, and chopped onions.
2. Heat sugar and almonds in a pan over medium heat until sugar melts and coats almonds; stir and heat until almonds are slightly brown.
3. Turn onto plate and cool for 10 minutes.
4. Combine remaining ingredients in a jar with a tight fitting lid; shake vigorously.
5. Pour salad dressing over lettuce mixture; toss.
6. Sprinkle with sugared almonds.
