Luscious Lemon Squares

Everyone has their favorite version of this recipe. However I like mine the best! I am a lemon lover,ha ha
Ingredients:
base
4 sticks cold butter or margarine
4 cups flour
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
filling
4 large lemons- grate all rind and juice
5 large eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup flour
Directions:
1. In a large bowl combine sugar and flour and cut in butter as if you are make pie pastry with pastry blended until fine crumbs result .
2. Press mixture into a 9 x 13 oblong pan or divide and press crumbs into 2 biscuit pans.
3. Bake 350F about 10 minutes or until crust appears set.
4. Meanwhile with electric mixer beat egg and sugar until thick and pale.
5. Add lemon juice, rind, flour and baking powder and blend well.
6. Pour lemon mixture over the crust and bake about 20 minutes more or until top is set and pale golden.
7. Overbaking will cause top to crack.
8. Remove from oven and cool completely.
9. Once cool ( chilling helps cutting ) cut into desired size pieces.
10. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
11. Yield: 1 large pan or 2 small pans.
12. Amount depends on large or small one cuts the pieces.
