I found this in The Mother Goose cookbook. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for safe keeping.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 cup softened unsalted butter
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup softened unsalted butter
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1/3 cup softened unsalted butter
3 tablespoons finely chopped watercress leaves
1 dash worcestershire sauce
Directions:
1. For both sweet butters: In a small mixing bowl, use an electric mixer at high speed to beat butter until light and fluffy. At low speed, gradually mix in remaining ingredients until well blended. Serve at room temperature on hot toast with Polly's Perfect Spiced Tea. Also delicious with Bright & Early Buckwheat Pancakes or Peter Pumpkin's Pumpkin Muffins.
2. For both savory butters: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Mix witrh an electric mixer at high speed until thoroughly blended. Serve on hot toast with Polly's Perfect Spiced Tea and Peter Piper's Best-Ever Pickles. Also a perfect topping for Mother Goose's Pease Porridge.
