I kind of threw this one together in the crockpot, and wasn't sure how it would turn out. It was fabulous! My husband loved it - he suggested I call it fusion stew. Serve it over rice or cooked noodles. : )
Ingredients:
1 lb beef stew meat (cubed)
1 cup flour (with salt, pepper, oregano, parsely mixed in)
3 tablespoons canola oil
1 onion (diced)
3 garlic cloves (diced)
8 ounces sweet and sour sauce
6 ounces chili sauce
2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 lb sliced mushrooms
salt & pepper
Directions:
1. Heat a few tablespoons of oil in a fry pan. Dredge the beef in the flour mixture and add to the heated oil in pan. Also add the onion, red pepper flake, and then the garlic when the meat is almost browned.
2. Once the meat is browned, add the sweet & sour sauce, the chili sauce, the worchestershire and sprinkling of salt & pepper. Let the sauce simmer and cook down for 10 minutes or so.
3. Grease your crockpot insert. Put the pan contents in the crockpot, along with the package of mushrooms. Give it a stir.
4. Place crockpot on low setting, and allow to cook for at least 8 hours. Serve over rice or noodles. Really very good. : ).
