Lesleigh's Cornbread

This is a wonderful, rich bread! A true southern favortie!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups martha white yellow cornmeal, mix
1/2 cup martha white all-purpose flour
1 1/2-2 cups bulgarian buttermilk
1 egg
salt
pepper
1 tablespoon oil
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Grease a cast iron skillet and place in oven to heat.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
4. Add buttermilk and mix thoroughly.
5. Taste batter to see if it is overly bitter.
6. If so, add about 2 tbsp.
7. sweet milk.
8. (DO NOT ADD SUGAR!) Add egg and oil.
9. Pour into hot skillet.
10. Return to the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes or until done.
11. Serve hot!
