LEMON SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Wager Estate in Laredo, Texas in 1988.
Ingredients:
2 cups water
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons butter
1 drop yellow food coloring
8 packets sugar substitute
rind of 1 lemon grated
Directions:
1. Combine water, cornstarch and salt then stir until smooth in a small saucepan.
2. Cook and stir over moderate heat until thickened and clear.
3. Simmer stirring constantly for 2 more minutes then remove from heat.
4. Add remaining ingredients to sauce and stir lightly to mix well.
