Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin Tops

This is a recipe a college friend gave me. I love these things! Full of the good ol college days memories. I hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp poppy seed
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp grated lemon peel
3 tbsp shortening
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
topping
2 teaspoons sugar
dash cinnamon
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 400F.
2. Combine flour, 1/4-cup sugar, baking powder, poppy seed, salt, 1/4tsp cinnamon and lemon peel; blend well.
3. Using pastry blender or fork, cut in shortening until mix is crumbly.
4. Add mild and lemon juice; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.
5. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
6. In small bowl mix topping ingredients; mix well.
7. Sprinkle evenly over tops.
8. Bake at 400F or 8-13 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
