This is a sweet bread that is usually served as breakfast or with coffee.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon poppy seed
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions:
1. In bowl cream butter and sugar.
2. Beat in eggs, lemon juice, and peel.
3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in seperate bowl.
4. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture alternately with milk.
5. Pour into greased loaf pan.
6. Bake at 450 degrees for 45 minutes.
7. Glaze: Mix lemon juice and confectioner's sugar together.
8. Immediately drizzle over loaf upon removal from the oven.
