I love soutzoukakia, which are Greek meatballs heavy in red wine, garlic and cumin cooked in a red sauce. But sometimes on a busy weeknight, I just don't have the time. I came up with this recipe to satisfy my cravings when time is short. I use a store bought sauce cause of time, but feel free to substitute your own sauce recipe.
Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons cumin
1/2 cup red wine
1 small onion, minced
salt and pepper
1 lb pasta
24 ounces pasta sauce
Directions:
1. Cook pasta according to directions on box.
2. While pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef with the garlic, cumin, onion, salt and pepper.
3. Once beef has browned and the onions are translucent, add the wine and the pasta sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes. Serve over pasta.
