Our favorite lasagna. I use the ground turkey that has Italian seasoning.
Ingredients:
1 3/4 lbs italian sausage
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg
16 ounces small curd cottage cheese
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
6 slices provolone cheese
16 ounces mozzarella cheese, grated divided
Directions:
1. Brown meat over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
2. Add the the next seven ingredients.
3. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
4. In a bowl, combine egg, cottage cheese, ricotta, and Parmesan.
5. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in an ungreased 13” X 9” X 2” baking dish.
6. Layer with three noodles, provolone cheese, 2 cups cottage cheese mixture, 1 cup mozzarella, three noodles, 2 cups of meat mixture, remaining cottage cheese mixture, and 2 cups mozzarella.
7. Top with remaining noodles, meat sauce, and mozzarella (dish will be FULL).
8. Cover and bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
9. Uncover, bake 20 minutes longer.
10. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
