Labelle Spicy Dirty Rice

Found in Miss Patty's cookbook and wanted to put up for safe keeping, listed with a bit of meat so could be used as a main dish rather than a side dish.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons canola oil
5 garlic cloves (peeled and minced)
1 onion (medium chopped)
1/2 cup celery (chopped)
1/2 cup bell pepper (chopped)
1 lb ground turkey
1 lb hot italian sausage (remove from casing)
2 tablespoons jalapenos (finely chopped)
1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
2 1/2 cups light chicken broth
1/2 cup scallion (chopped)
2 teaspoons seasoned pepper
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Het oil in large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion, celery, and bell pepper, stirring to blend.
2. Cook, stirring frequently , for about 3 minutes or uniil the veggies have wilted and the garlic is golden. Add the turkey (both), cook for about 7 minutes or until nicely browned. Add the jalapenos and season to taste with salt and pepper.
3. Stir in rice. Add the broth and blackened spice and bring to a boil.
4. Lower the heat, cover, and simmer for about 25 minutes or until the rice is tender.
5. Remove fro heat. Stir in the scallions. Taste and, if necessary, add salt and pepper and serve.
