La Madeleines Tomato Basil Soup

Published in Houston Chronicle Food section a few years ago. Not sure if it's a copy cat - tastes just like the real thing and La Madeleine is named in the feature so this might be the real deal.
Ingredients:
8 - 10 tomatoes peeled, cored & chopped or 4 c canned whole tomatoes crushed
4 c tomato juice
12 - 14 fresh basil leaves (may want to chop extra for garnish)
1 c heavy whipping cream
1 stick unsalted softened butter
salt to taste
1/4 t cracked black pepper
Directions:
1. Combine tomatoes and juice in large saucepan over med heat.
2. Simmer 30 minutes.
3. Blend or process to puree tomato mixture & basil - do this in small batches for best results.
4. Return mixture to saucepan over low heat.
5. Stir in cream & butter then season w/ salt & pepper.
6. Continue stirring over low heat until thoroughly heated.
7. Ready to serve.
