Kahlua-mmmmmmmm, dates-great, nuts-yummy. When I saw this recipe I had to try it immediately. Slice thinly, enjoy with a cup of tea or maybe even with a small glass of Kahlua.
Ingredients:
1 cup pitted dates, chopped
1/2 cup kahlua
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons margarine
1 large egg
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup chopped nuts (any choice)
1/2 cup warm water
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Grease a large loaf pan (10x3x3inch).
3. Mix dates, Kahlua, water and orange peel.
4. Let stand and soak while preparing batter.
5. Cream sugar, margarine and egg together until fluffy.
6. Sift flour with baking soda and salt.
7. Add to creamed mixture, alternately, with date mixture.
8. Stir in nuts.
9. Turn into prepared pan.
10. Let stand 5 minutes.
11. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes.
