In 'The Glory of Southern Cooking' by James Villas
Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) jar pineapple preserves (or if necessary, peach preserves)
1 (10 ounce) jar apple jelly
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon cracked peppercorn
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
Directions:
1. In a big bowl, combine the preserves, jelly, and vinegar; stir until well blended.
2. Add in the horseradish, peppercorns, mustard, and salt; stir until blended.
3. Chill the spread, covered, at least 2 hours, then spoon it over the cream cheese on two crystal serving plates or trays and serve with assorted crackers.
