Jean D's Shepherds Pie

As made for us to celebrate baby in Feb 1998- an instant hit with the kids.
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
1 chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup catsup
2 cups cooked vegetables
5 potatoes, cooked and mashed
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef and onion. Drain.
2. Add seasonings, tomato sauce, catsup, and vegetables.
3. Transfer to 10 pie plate or 2 qt casserole dish.
4. Top with mashed potatoes. If desired, dot with butter and sprinkle lightly with parmesan cheese.
5. Bake uncovered at 350* for about 20 minutes.
