Jan's Holiday Bread Wreath

This gorgeous, decorative bread wreath is filled with a delicious combination of cinnamon, walnuts, brown sugar and plumped raisins. It's fantastic as dessert bread or with coffee in the morning!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup milk
2 (1/4 ounce) packages dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1/3 cup melted butter, cooled to lukewarm
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 1/2-4 cups flour
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk, too attach decorations
2/3 cup raisins, soaked in
hot water or grand marnier or triple sec
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 cups walnuts, chopped fine
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, heat milk until bubbles form on sides.
2. Cool to lukewarm.
3. Meanwhile sprinkle yeast over warm water stirring to dissolve.
4. In a large bowl, add yeast, warm milk, butter, sugar, egg, lemon rind, vanilla and salt.
5. Slowly stir in 3 cups of flour.
6. Sprinkle flour on counter or board.
7. Knead until smooth.
8. If too sticky, add up to 1/2 cup more flour.
9. Placed in greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm spot until double, about one hour.
10. Meanwhile, make filling. (last 8 ingredients).
11. Drain soaked raisins and chop.
12. In a bowl, add raisins to remaining filling ingredients.
13. Mix well and set aside.
14. Punch down down and roll out on a floured board into 21- by18-inch rectangle.
15. Cut off a 21- by 3 inch strip and set aside for dough decorations.
16. Spread filling evenly onto the dough, leaving about an inch border all the way around.
17. Carefully roll up dough in jellyroll fashion and then shape into a wreath, tucking the ends under each other, pinching to secure.
18. Place on a large greased baking sheet.
19. Cover and let rise until double.
20. 15 minutes before ring has finished rising preheat oven to 350 degrees.
21. Roll out reserve strip of dough, and with cookie cutters, cut out leaf designs.
22. Attach cutouts to ring with a little water.
23. Beat egg and milk together and brush on ring.
24. Bake about 30 minutes.
25. Serve warm with butter.
