This recipe was printed in the Arizona Republic newspaper. This is an easy recipe to make if you have all the dry ingredients made up ahead of time in a airtight container.
Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon dried green chili pepper flakes
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 teaspoon snipped dried chives
1 teaspoon dried celery flakes
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
2 cups water
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 lb smoked sausage
1 cup chopped ham
Directions:
1. Combine the rice mix with 2 cups of water and 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce in a dutch oven. 2. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. 3. Stir in 1 pound sliced smoked sausage and 1 cup chopped ham. 4. Heat through.
