Ingredients:
1 pound ground pork
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 celery ribs, diced
2 small carrots, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 (8-ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can beef broth
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can tomato puree
1 (6-ounce) can italian-style tomato paste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 (20-ounce) package refrigerated cheese-filled ravioli, cooked
garnish: chopped fresh basil
Directions:
1. Cook first 8 ingredients in a large Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring until meat crumbles and is no longer pink; drain.
2. Stir in mushrooms and next 6 ingredients; simmer 3 hours. Stir in 1 tablespoon basil just before serving; serve over ravioli. Garnish, if desired.
3. * 1 pound ground beef may be substituted.
