Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup raisins
1 1/4 cups milk
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Directions:
1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl. Cut shortening and butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or fork until mixture is crumbly. Stir in raisins.
2. Whisk together milk, eggs, and vinegar; add to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Pour batter into a greased 10 1/2-inch cast-iron skillet.
3. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
4. NOTE: Bread also may be baked in 2 greased 8-inch round cakepans for 30 to 35 minutes.
