Indian Fry Bread

Nice for dipping in soups or to complete a nice salad
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered milk
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons shortening
Directions:
1. mix dry ingredients and shortening together.
2. rub mixture with fingers until like coarse bread crumbs.
3. push to one side of bowl and add water.
4. mix in circular motion with fingers and knead in upward motion and stretch to make dough tender.
5. knead on a floured surface for 2-3 min.
6. divide into 6 portions and shape into a balls.
7. flatten with finger starting with the center moving outward (6-7 inches).
8. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on edges on both sides.
