I've always known that Russians pride themselves in their Vodka- it is some of the best in the world. I wasn't aware of their elegant way of serving it until I saw it at a Russian restaurant: in a block of ice with stemmed shot glasses. I don't own stemmed shot glasses, but freezing the bottle of vodka in an ice block is a great way of serving it. The presentation is great plus it keeps it cold. Cheers!
Ingredients:
1 (750 ml) bottle of good russian vodka
water
Directions:
1. Find an empty 1/2 gallon milk or juice carton (the cardboard kind) and rinse out. Cut the top of the carton off (about 3/4 of the way up).
2. Place the bottle of vodka inside the milk carton and fill 3/4 full with water. Carefully place in the freezer and allow 24-48 hours to freeze.
3. To remove the carton, dip it into a sink filled with warm water. After a few seconds, the cardboard should tear away easily.
4. Place on a dish or platter and wrap with a nice linen napkin for easy handling. Serve in stemmed shot glasses.
