Ice cream without an icecream maker. Perfect for dorms or interactive parties where you want your guests to play a part in making the meal.
Ingredients:
1 cup half and half
2 tbl. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup chopped fresh strawberries or peaches.
4 cups ice
4 tbl. coarse kosher salt
1 quart size zip top freezer bag
1 gallon size zip top freezer bag
hand towel.
Directions:
1. Put sugar, vanilla, fresh fruit and half and half in a quart size zip top bag. Squeeze out all the air and mix the bag around to combine ingredients.
2. Place the quart size bag of icecream mixure in the gallon size bag.
3. Add the ice and salt to the gallon size bag.
4. Seal out the air and close tightly.
5. Wrap the bag up in a hand towel to avoid freezing your hands and shake baby shake...
6. 10 minutes you should have yummy soft serve icecream. Shake longer if you want it more firm.
7. Take the small bag out and rinse quickly under cold water to wash off salt.
8. Lay bag on flat surface, using a staight edge (wooden spoon hanlde works well) Push the ice cream down to the bottom corner of the baggie. Snip off corner of bag and squeeze out into bowl.
9. Try other mix ins too...I like Torani Irish Cream syrup with brownie pieces.
