This is a recipe a member of our Church uses to make Hush Puppies. They are the best we have tried so I am putting the recipe here for safe keeping. I am not sure on how hot the deep fryer should be but we just heat it up to the max and go from there. They cook fast
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups white lily cornmeal
1 egg
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons shortening or 2 tablespoons oil
1 cup chopped onion
extra oil (for frying)
Directions:
1. Pour enough oil in deep fryer to cover. Mix all ingredients, set aside or refridgerate for at least 1/2 hour. Using a tablespoons so cookie scoop, place scoops in Hot Oil till golden brown. Servings and yield depends on size of each puppy.
