A wonderful, easy and versitile appetizer that everyone will love! Add your favorite toppings. It's pizza without the crust!
Ingredients:
1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 tsp. dried oregeno
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1-1/2 to 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
12 oz. pizza sauce
about a half to 3/4 of a cup of assorted toppings, chopped. i like to use pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom and black olives....but use whatever floats your boat
Directions:
1. In a small bowl mix together the cream cheese, oregeno, basil and 1/4 cup of the grated parmesan cheese.
2. Spread the mixture in the bottom of a 9 inch pie plate or shallow round baking dish. Sprinkle about half of the mozzerella cheese and half of what's left over of the parmesan cheese over the cream cheese mixture. Next spread the pizza sauce over the top of the cheese. Sprinkle most of the remaining cheese over the top of the sauce, (but leave a little to put over the toppings).
3. Place the desired toppings over the cheese and sauce and then sprinkle with a little extra mozzerella and parmesan.
4. Bake in a 350 oven for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and is nice and bubbly.
5. Serve with baguettes or bread sticks. (I like to use fresh bread sticks right out of the oven.)
6. ***Just a note*** I like to assemble this dish the night before. I just cover it with foil and set it in the fridge till I'm ready to put it in the oven. It seems to make the flavors that much better!!
