This is the original Chicago hot dog from Wiener's circle in Chicago. There is a couple differences from the standard Portillo's dog, but it just complements the original 7.
Ingredients:
1 all beef hot dog
1 poppy seed hot dog bun
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon neon-green pickle relish
1 tablespoon chopped yellow onion
3 tomatoes, slices
2 pickle spears
4 sport bell peppers
1 dash celery salt
2 slices cucumbers (wedges)
2 slices pickled tomatillos (wedges)
Directions:
1. Heat a grill to medium. Char the hot dogs on all sides until just black, but not all the way burnt.
2. While dog is grilling, steam the bun over a little boiling water in a steamer basket.
3. Take the dog out, place on bun. Apply mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, sport peppers, and celery salt in that order. Place the tomatillo and cucumber on the side. Enjoy!
