Hot Cross Buns

Traditional Easter treat
Ingredients:
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp instant yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
4 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup currants
vegetable oil
1 egg white
2 tbsp milk
1 cup icing sugar
Directions:
1. Heat milk to scalding(just before boiling)..remove from heat and whisk in sugar,butter,salt.
2. In 1 bowl lukewarm water and yeast..Add milk mixture and beaten eggs.
3. In 2nd bowl mix flour ,currants(or raisins)and spices
4. Combine both bowls and mix well
5. add more flour if needed...Kneed the dough for 5 minutes
6. Make the dough into a ball and roll lightly in flour.Place in a lightly oiled bowl..cover with plastic wrap and set in warm spot for 90 minutes.
7. On a lightly floured surface cut dough in half then take each and roll into a 10 long piece...cut 1 of each piece and roll into a ball.place on non stick paper on a cooking sheet and cut a cross with a knife on each one...Cover with a towel and let rise for 1 hour.
8. Preheat oven to 375*
9. lightly brush each one with egg white mixture...Bake for 10 minutes,then brush again...bake another 8 minutes or until golden brown and puffy...
10. Mix 2 tbsp of milk with icing sugar(mix in slowly)until a thick paste.Add to the cross lines on the buns.
11. ..Let sit for 20 minutes...then eat...Enjoy
