HOT BEEF AND HAZELNUT SALAD This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Markie Estate in Sachse, Texas in 1982.
Ingredients:
1 pound sirloin steak trimmed and sliced across grain in strips
marinade
1/4 cup sliced green onions
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon water
dressing
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 clove minced garlic
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
8 cups torn lettuce leaves chopped
1/4 cup dry roasted hazelnuts
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/4 cup red bell pepper chopped
Directions:
1. Place beef in a glass mixing bowl then combine marinade ingredients and pour over beef.
2. Allow to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
3. Meanwhile combine dressing ingredients then set aside.
4. Place greens in a large salad bowl and refrigerate.
5. In a skillet over high heat brown half the beef and marinade.
6. Remove and then brown remaining beef.
7. Drain and add all beef to greens.
8. In the same skillet heat dressing and pour over salad and quickly toss.
9. Top with hazelnuts, onions and peppers then serve immediately.
