This recipe is my families favorite because it's very simple to make and tastes wonderful. Tip: If your children dislike green peppers and onions you can always chop them in your food processor and they won't even know they are in there, works like a charm :0)
Ingredients:
1 lb medium ground meat (or lean if you prefer, but medium has a better taste)
2 tablespoons bbq seasoning
2 tablespoons olive oil (or canola oil)
1 large onion (onion of choice)
1 medium green pepper
2 (10 ounce) cans whole mushrooms (cut into quarters)
2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (10 ounce) can tomato soup
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon italian seasoning (key ingredient)
1 pinch sea salt (or regular salt)
pepper
multigrain spaghetti
Directions:
1. Meatballs:.
2. add BBQ seasoning to ground meat and mix well.
3. form meat into small balls.
4. Sauce:.
5. In a lage pot fry onion, green pepper and mushroom together in olive oil, cook unitl onions are transparent, but still has a little bite to them.
6. In a seperate pan fry meatballs until golden brown and remove excess fat. Add meatballs to vegetables, then add remaining ingredianets to vegetables and meatballs (except the pasta) simmer on low heat for 2 -3 hours ( if you like, you can simmer you suace in a slow cooker/crock pot for 3-4 hours). Boil your pasta, serve sauce over pasta and top with parmesan cheese. As a side order to that, make garlic bread and your family will love it. Enjoy!
7. TIP: Sauce can be frozen and used at a later date, so make a big batch and have some for another week.
