A former co-worker shared this recipe with me. We always make a batch during Christmas time to share with neighbors and co-workers. You can add a bag of your own favorite snack mix to this if you like - our kids like goldfish crackers with it. I hope you enjoy it.
Ingredients:
12 cups bugles original flavor snacks (about 1 1/3 bags)
6 cups small pretzels
11 ounces round saltine soup crackers
10 ounces wheat thins crackers
13 2/3 ounces cheez-it crackers
1 (8 ounce) package sesame sticks (or bagel chips)
1 (18 1/4 ounce) can mixed nuts (18-20 oz can)
2 (1 ounce) envelopes ranch dressing mix
1 (10 ounce) bottle butter flavor popcorn oil
1/3 cup canola oil (or corn oil)
Directions:
1. In a very large bowl, mix all crackers and nuts together. (We use an oversized roasting pan).
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the oils and salad dressing mix.
3. Pour the oil mixture over the cracker mix and toss/stir to coat evenly.
4. Transfer to an un-greased set of baking pans. (We use 3-4 pans).
5. Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes - stirring every 15 minutes. (We use our double oven and do 2 pans in each one at the same time. When we stir, we alternate the pans from top/bottom racks.).
6. Let cool before storing.
