this is a recipe from the Wisconsin Dairy council... it sounded so good I love dates in goodies...
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoons nutmeg
1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
powdered sugar
whipped cream

2. Combine flour, nutmeg, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream and milk, mixing well after each addition. Stir in dates and walnuts. Pour into well-greased 12 cup fluted tube pan. Bake at 350° F for 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan. Dust with powdered sugar; serve with whipped cream
