EASY. Beautiful and Festive Trifle for Holidays. Layered Angel Food cake, whipping cream, rum soaked toasted almonds, golden raisins. It is IMPRESSIVE and DELICIOUS!!!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup rum
3/4 slivered almonds toasted
3/4 cup golden raisins
1-3 ounce package vanilla pudding mix (for cooking)
1/2 cup whipping cream, whipped
1-10 ounce loaf angel food cake, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup whipping cream
slivered almonds, toasted (optional)
whole fresh strawberries (optional)
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; let stand for 1 hour
2. Prepare pudding mix according to package directions using 2-1/2 cups of milk; cool
3. Fold whipped cream into pudding
4. Layer 1/3 each of cake, raisin mixture, and pudding in a 3-1/2 quart glass bowl, or trifle dish
5. Repeat layers twice, ending with pudding
6. Cover and chill at least 3 hours
7. Before serving, beat 1/2 cup whipping cream until soft peaks form
8. Spread over trifle
9. Garnish with toasted almonds (not soaked)
10. Garnish with whole strawberries
11. NOTE: Rather than the cooked pudding, instant pudding may be used, then add whipped cream as directed. This is delicious, and can be doubled for a larger dish. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS!
