Children – and adults – love to find the sweet chocolate kiss hidden inside this cookie. They are simple to make and fun to have on a cookie tray…also great for kids school treats, as the chocolate is “hidden” inside and doesn’t make a mess like frosted cookies, etc. Read more .!
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
6 ounce package chocolate “kiss” candies, unwrapped
note: i like to cut off the tip of the candy kiss with a kitchen shears, and it makes it much easier to wrap the candy piece in the dough, without the tip poking through.
powedered sugar for rolling cookies in
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar and extract. Add the flour and mix together well. Cover bowl and chill the dough slightly. When dough is chilled, take about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball. Insert a candy kiss into the middle of the ball, and then roll the ball gently between your palms to completely cover the candy kiss in the dough. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet, leaving about 2” between cookies, as they will spread a bit as they bake. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes, until set but not brown. Cool cookies on the pan for a few minutes before removing and rolling them in powdered sugar while they are still warm. Place cookies on waxed paper to finish cooling. Store cooled cookies in a covered container with waxed paper in between layers.
