Granny's Cajun Cookin' by Mrs. Melba Jeanne Patin
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup flour
3/4 tsp soda
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 large (16 oz) can chocolate syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans
chocolate icing
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup sweet milk
1/4 cup hershey' s cocoa
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add syrup, flour and remaining ingredients. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes in lightly greased Pyrex pan. Prepare the following icing.

3. Mix together. Bring to a boil. After boiling point is reached, boil 1 minute. Beat until icing is of spreading consistency.
