Hersey Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

i got this out of a Hersey cook book and I always make it for dinner guests, it's surprisingly easy in my opinion. A fun goopy sweet mess of a cake.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups white sugar, divided
1 cup flour
1/2 cocoa, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk ( i've used both milk and soy milk and it works and tastes the same)
1/3 cup butter or marg, melted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 3/4 cups hot water
whipped toppig, optional
handful of berries, optional, to garnish
Directions:
1. Preheat overn to 350 degrees
2. Stir together 3/4 cupwhite sugar, flour ,1/4 cup cocoa, baking powder and salt.
3. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla
4. Beat until smooth
5. Pour batter into ungreased 9-inch square pan
6. Stir together reamining sugar, brown sugar, and remaining cocoa
7. Sprinkle mixture evenly over batter
8. Pour Hot Water over mixture DO NOT STIR
9. Bake for 35-40 minutes ( make sure that there's something such as a bigger apn underneath to catch any possible spillover, I rarely find there is but I'd rather be safe thatn spend an hour cleaning out the oven)
10. Let stand 15 minutes before serving.
11. Spoon into dessert dishes, spooning sauce from bottom of the pan overtop,
12. Optional, garnish with whipped topping and berreis
