Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses

Directions:

  1. Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, raisins and nuts in a bowl. Cream 2 cups sugar, margarine and eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses. Add the flour mixture and mix well. Chill, covered, for 2 hours.
  2. Preheat the oven to 325*F.
  3. Shape the dough into fingersize pieces. Roll in sugar. Arrange on greased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake for 7 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
