Helens Cranberry Apple Sauce

Mom knew I was looking for a special dish for Thanksgiving and dug this one out of her treasured recipe box.
Ingredients:
1 cup apple cider
1/2 cup sugar (i use splenda for baking)
1 braeburn or gala apple, peeled & grated
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch of ground cloves
1 bag fresh or frozen cranberries (12 oz)
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
salt to taste
Directions:
1. Boil cider, sugar, apple, cinnamon and cloves in a saucepan over medium heat.
2. Stir until sugar dissolves
3. Add cranberries and simmer 10-12 miuntes until berries burst.
4. Keep simmering until the sauce thickens
5. Stir in vinegar, season with salt.
6. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
7. Can be made up to 2 days ahead.
