Healthy Shredded Wheat Cookies

This is my version of a shredded wheat cookie I found on this site. They are dense and don't look as good as a normal cookies, but my kids and I think they are really good.
Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups shredded wheat cereal
1 -1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup applesauce
1/2 teaspoon stevia powder
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2-1 cup nuts (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Process shredded wheat and 1/2°C chocolate chips in food processor until finely ground.
3. Beat together butter, applesauce, stevia, eggs, and vanilla.
4. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
5. Mix in shredded wheat mixture, remaining chocolate chips, and nuts.
6. Drop by tablespoons onto greased pan and flatten out (these do not spread very much).
7. Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are light brown and cookie is set.
