tropical fruit salads help chase the winter blahs away. Wake up your taste buds and stir up your imagination with this easy recipe
Ingredients:
fresh fruits if possible
1 pineapple
1 or 2 papayas
3 or 4 bananas
seedless watermelon, or honey dew, cantalope
red seedless grapes or purple seedless ones
juice of 1/2 lemon
additional add-ins
1/2 cup shredded cocoanut
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
mini marshmellows
peeled sliced green or golden kiwi fruit
fresh mint leaves
Directions:
1. In a very large bowl place:
2. 1 peeled pineapple, cored and cut into bite size pieces
3. 1 papaya peeled, seeded and cut or balled into bite size pieces
4. ball or cube melon. (this may be the bulk of the salad)
5. add washed grapes, the richer the color, the prettier the presentation
6. slice bananas and gently mix together with other fruits
7. * word on bananas, They are the most delicate of the fruits here. Mix in with care or omit completely. *
8. Mix all with lemon juice (it preserves color)
9. additional add-ins, especially the kiwi add color and texture
10. sprinkle top with mint leaves
